The company was founded in 1986 by Terry Moses. Before that, he used to manage a store in Utica Square, Tulsa Oklahoma. It was carpeted as many were in those days. One day someone spilled a drink while shopping, so Terry called a prominent local carpet cleaner to clean it. They came, cleaned it and it looked good. In only a few days, the spot began to reappear. Terry called them back to clean it again and asked them to clean the whole showroom as well. They came again, cleaned the spot, as well as the showroom, and it looked good. In a very short amount of time, not only did the spot reappear, but the whole showroom looked worse. Pathways were getting darker! Terry called the company back and they said they were so busy they couldn't come back for a long time. When he asked if they would schedule the store on a recurring appointment, they declined and said just call when you want to schedule an appointment. After a few cleanings, it was obvious that the carpet was looking worse than ever! He thought, if these guys are supposed to be the best in town and they are always busy, there must be a better way. 

After a lot of research, Terry found that dry-cleaning carpet, rugs and furniture was a superior method over wet-cleaning, otherwise known as steam cleaning. So, he quit his job and began Carpet Master of Tulsa. It was pretty successful because people were looking for an alternative to the wet-cleaning process. He started out with the Host method. It required sprinkling a powder compound into the carpet to break down and absorb dirt. Then a special machine was used to brush the carpet fibers and extract the powder compound. For spots and spills, Terry found himself on his knees hand-scrubbing stubborn spots and vacuuming to extract more powder compound that the machine left behind. Long-story-short, the Host company was going out of business due to internal company issues. Terry knew he needed another dry-cleaning method to replace the one he was using, but there just wasn't a good replacement out there that stood up to his high standards. So, he began to develop the proprietary natural dry-cleaning solvent we use today. Instead of the machine with brushes, he used an ordinary floor buffer with a bonnet pad! No more compound powder or excessive hand-scrubbing every spot! He would simply spray the carpet ahead of him to begin to break down the dirt, then go over it with the buffer, scrubbing the dirt out of the carpet and into the pad. Of course there will be some stubborn spots, so scrubbing by hand or utilizing spot treatments will be necessary from time to time. 



Once Terry was able to impress Charles Faudre, an internationally known interior designer based in Tulsa, the rest was history. Faudre's referrals were gold. We are lucky to work for the who's who of Tulsa ever since.
